Unfortunately, one time they overbooked and sent me to another hotel, Dorado Gold. Rooms are small and simple with hot water and good wifi. They offer free shuttles to and from the airport nearby and breakfast is included in the rate.
On overnight layovers, I stay with A Bogotá on Holidays. It’s just a couple blocks uphill from several of the main attractions in the area and there are many great restaurants nearby. Rooms are comfortable, with some private rooms with private bathrooms available. The owner is very friendly and helpful and speaks perfect English. It’s got the best location of all the hostels in La Candelaria. I’ve also stayed at Zohar Hostel (December 2015).
